Well, I think it maybe finally safe to say the spring has come to Alaska. Our mid-April dumping of snow came and is mostly melted off now. The sun comes out around 5 am and does not set until after 9. The birds have started coming back to Potters Marsh and the moose are leaving their “calling cards†on the grass again and not the side walks. In one week I saw our temperatures go from the 30's to the upper 40's. The best tell of all is that the snow on the mountains is receding back up the mountains like a green/gray thermometer. I guess we are not all of the way out of winters grasp yet. I took Princess our dog to the park yesterday and the pond is still mostly frozen over with ice. I was not the only one with the idea to take my doggy to the park. When I would take her in the winter we would normally see another dog or two enjoying the outside but yesterday it almost looked like a dog park.
If it is getting warmer up here I can assume that most of you are also enjoying the first signs of summer.
